Last but not least congratulations to Capt and Crew and anglers of Muy Caliente on your tournament win!

That report of the Dad daughter Duo struck a note in Ol Salty. And I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my 6 best friends in the world. My Kids The twins Natasha and Randito alias Mr. Dog My other twin boys Steven and Andres Julioi Jose and Guadaloupe

I always make a point to give my kids a hug and kiss everyday and tell them I love them. Just before I chase them around the house with a filet knife and threaten to cut them up and feed them to the dog cuz they are driving me crazy!!!!  Just a note remember Mom and Dad give your kids a hug and kiss everyday.  It won’t cost you a thing.

Well we last left our hero Salty under the Costa Rican paisley sunset contemplating the perfect CHUM BUDDY.

OK we have our target everybody lets hit Jaco. Here is your first Spanish lesson Jaco pronounced Hawk.o or as I see it Twi-liight-zone Invite the target to a few beers and lull him or her into a sense of security. Then get the Guaro sours shots coming. You drink 1 and give the target 3 Note Guaro national drink of Costa Rica. As far as I can tell its a combo off old socks bicycle tires used underwear and paint thinner aged for approx 2 hours  GOOD  STUFF!!! Its also a great battery terminal cleaner or paint remover

                                To be continued......................

Well as Salty promised,  Here is the first installment on making a CHUM  BUDDY.

First thing, you have to select your mark. you know who it is, Theres always one.  Let me put it this way, when I was a mere tadpole my dad returned from Lost Wages Sin City or Las Vegas and came bearing gifts, for my Bro a deck of bare busted beauties and for me a coffee mug. the front of the mug was a perfect horses face, the handle formed into a handsome grip, and the back a fine likeness of a horses Patut!!!  with the inscription  THERES ONE IN EVERY FAMILY.  I think that should put us all on the same page. Now once you have your target............   To Be continued................

So as the warm tropical Costa Rican sun sets on our hero Salty  I hear him mummble these words and I quote    Ahhhhhhhwwww   Jeeeez its paisley again!!!!!!!!!

Even though we have gotten some unusual rain the fishing is great. The fish just don’t seem to mind if they get wet!!!
SALTYS DORADO DELIGHT
COAT your filets with olive oil salt pepper and basil put in frig
In a sauce pan heat up some olive oil put in filets and cook for about 2 to 3 min on each side for a filets of about 1 inch thick. Remove from pan Using the same pan sauté some copped garlic red and green sweet peppers and basil, I like to add some black olives and a few jalapenos myself, Mushrooms are great too
At this point add 1 - 2 cups cream depending on servings. Reduce the sauce until it thickens just before its ready put filets in the sauce and cook for a minute or two more. The secret is to find a Nutmeg seed and grate fine about 1tsp into sauce Complete the dish with rice and veggies of your choice I like bacon wrapped asparagus.
And if you find this recipe is a bit much you might want to go with my tried and true stand by Just have some MONKEY DICK ON A STICK Hotdog Wash it down with a gallon of MAD DOG 20 20 or Thunderbird. And if there’s some left in the morning no worries!!!! It makes for delightful pancake syrup. This recipe is not for the faint hearted.
Well that’s a wrap for now. Any way stay tuned in my next letter I’m going to tell you how to make your very own CHUM BUDDY you won’t want to miss it whew I haven’t done this much work since the 80s

Catch em up.

First Tournament Jan 2008.
There were 42 boats competing. Over the 3 days there were 406 billfish released by the competing boats. The marlin bite has been just amazing. The 42 boats released 134 Marlin over those three days. I have competed in billfish tournaments on the Atlantic and the Pacific, I have never heard of numbers like this.
