Offshore Fishing in February

The offshore fishing scene in Los Suenos during February is nothing short of spectacular. This month boasts prime conditions for targeting some of the most sought-after species, including sailfish, marlin, tuna, and mahi-mahi. The fertile fishing grounds just beyond the marina are legendary, offering consistent action that has earned Los Suenos its world-class reputation.

Sailfish are the star of the show in February, with peak numbers creating thrilling opportunities for anglers. These acrobatic fighters often put on a show, leaping and tail-walking across the water. Using techniques such as trolling with rigged ballyhoo or live bait increases your chances of hooking these prized catches. Blue marlin and black marlin are also present, though they require patience and skill to reel in, given their immense size and power.

Yellowfin tuna offer an exciting challenge for those who enjoy the pursuit of fast-moving schools. These fish are known for their strength and speed, and February’s calm seas provide the perfect conditions for spotting surface activity. Anglers often use poppers or live bait to entice strikes from these powerful predators. Mahi-mahi, with their vibrant colors and aggressive feeding habits, round out the offshore experience, providing both a thrilling catch and a delicious meal at the end of the day.

Inshore Fishing in February

While the offshore fishing is undoubtedly impressive, inshore fishing out of Los Suenos in February offers its own unique charm. The coastline, lined with lush tropical scenery and secluded beaches, provides a stunning backdrop for targeting a variety of species that thrive in these waters.

One of the highlights of inshore fishing is the abundance of roosterfish. Recognizable by their distinctive dorsal fin, these fish are a favorite among anglers for their strength and the exciting fight they put up. Snook and snapper are also commonly found inshore, offering a rewarding experience for both novice and experienced fishermen. Light tackle and live bait are popular methods for targeting these species, while jigging near rocky outcroppings often yields great results.

Beyond the thrill of the catch, inshore fishing offers a more relaxed and intimate experience compared to offshore excursions. The calm, protected waters make it ideal for families or those looking to combine fishing with sightseeing along the stunning coastline. With so much diversity and the promise of picture-perfect conditions, February is a fantastic time to explore the inshore offerings of Los Suenos.

February was an exhilarating month for anglers at Los Sueños Resort, highlighted by the thrilling LEG 2 of the 2025 Signature Triple Crown, held from February 24 through March 1.
